Written by John

Step 1: Enter Your Vehicle Information

Start by entering details like:

  • Year, make, and model

  • Engine (if known)

  • Mileage

This ensures your diagnostic plan is tailored to your exact vehicle.

Step 2: Choose What You Need Help With

You’ll select between two options:

  • Create a Diagnostic Plan
→ Use this if you’re trying to figure out what’s wrong

  • Get Repair Information
→ Use this if you already know the issue and need help fixing it

Step 3: Describe the Problem

Tell Repair Ally what’s going on.

Include as much detail as possible:

  • Symptoms (e.g., rough idle, no start, noise)

  • When it happens (cold start, highway, etc.)

  • Any trouble codes (if available)

👉 The more detail you provide, the more accurate your plan will be.

Step 4: Answer Optional Follow-Up Questions

To improve accuracy, Repair Ally may ask a few clarifying questions.

These help refine the diagnostic plan and prioritize the most likely causes.

Step 5: Get Your Diagnostic Plan

Repair Ally generates a custom diagnostic plan with:

  • ✅ Step-by-step tests

  • ⏱ Estimated time for each step

  • 🟢 Difficulty level

  • 🧰 Required tools and supplies

The plan is designed to help you efficiently narrow down the root cause.

Step 6: Perform Diagnostic Tests

Work through the recommended tests at your own pace.

Each step includes:

  • Clear instructions

  • Best practices and safety guidance

  • (When available) helpful visuals or videos

You can follow the suggested order – or jump to the steps most relevant to you.

Step 7: Log Your Results (Pass or Fail)

After completing each test, mark the result:

  • Pass → No issue found

  • Fail → Issue identified (you can add details)

Repair Ally uses your inputs to continuously refine the diagnosis.

Step 8: Identify the Root Cause

As you complete tests, Repair Ally analyzes the results and:

  • Confirms whether a root cause has been identified

  • Recommends whether additional testing is needed

Once the issue is identified, you’re ready to move forward with the repair.
